Abstract

Küresel düzeyde, beş yaşın altındaki çocukların ölüm nedenlerinden birisi de prematüre doğumdur. Gestasyon haftasına bağlı olarak preterm eyleme maruz kalan bebeklerde; emme, yutma ve nefes alma koordinasyonundaki yapısal eksiklikler nedeniyle oral beslenme güçlüğüne sık rastlanır. Preterm bebeklerde oral beslenmeye geçişte aranan en temel basamak, beslenme becerilerinin gelişmiş olmasıdır. Preterm bebeklerde oral motor fonksiyon gelişimini destekleyen uygulamalar, erken dönemde preterm doğmuş bebeklerin büyüme ve gelişimini en üst seviyeye ulaştırmak ve onlara etkili beslenme becerilerinin kazandırılabilmesi için kullanılan müdahale yöntemleridir. Bu derlemede preterm bebeklerde oral-motor fonksiyonların gelişimini destekleyici uygulamalar, güncel veriler ışığında incelenmiştir.

Applications to Support the Development of Oral-Motor Functions in Preterm Babies

Year 2020, Volume: 8 Issue: 1, 141 - 149, 26.04.2020

Abstract

Prematurity is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide in children under the age of five. Depending on gestational week, oral feeding difficulties are common in infants who undergo preterm labor due to structural deficiencies in sucking, swallowing and breathing coordination. The most important step in the transition to oral feeding in preterm infants is the development of feeding skills. Practices supporting oral motor function development in preterm are the intervention methods used to maximize the growth and development of preterm infants and to provide effective feeding skills in the early period. In this review article, practices supporting the development of oral-motor functions in preterm infants were investigated in the light of current data
