Kişilerarası Duyarlılığı Etkileyen Psikolojik Değişkenler: Bağlanma Stilleri ve Kişilik Özellikleri (Tıp Fakültesi Öğrencileri Üzerine Bir Çalışma)

Abstract

Psychological Variables Affecting Interpersonal Sensitivity: Attachment Styles and Personality Traits

Abstract

Interpersonal sensitivity can be defined as judging the behavior of individuals around us and making inferences from these judgments. Attachment can be expressed as the bond that the individual establishes with their caregiver in the first life stages and later with their peers, romantic or social friends. Personality, on the other hand, is a set of relatively consistent characteristics that individuals have. This study aimed to examine the effects of preoccupied attachment and neuroticism on interpersonal sensitivity. In this context, 192 (107 female, 84 male) volunteer medical faculty students were reached. Data were collected through the Symptom Checklist 90R, the Adult Attachment Styles Scale, the Five Factor Personality Traits Scale, and the sociodemographic form. Correlation and hierarchical regression analysis, which are quantitative analysis techniques, were used in the analysis of the data. Findings show that both preoccupied attachment and emotional instability have a significant relationship with interpersonal sensitivity. In addition, it was found that while preoccupied attachment and emotional instability explained 37% of the variance in the variable of interpersonal sensitivity, gender did not have any significant effect on interpersonal sensitivity. The results obtained were discussed based on the relevant literature and suggestions were made to researchers.
