Bibliometric Analysis of Scientific Studies on Hatay/Antakya

Abstract

Hatay/Antakya, one of the ancient cities of Anatolia, has hosted many civilizations throughout history due to its strategic location. The place where we can concretely observe this characteristic of the city is the archaeological work that has been carried out in the city. As a result of these studies and the archaeological data found and continuing to be discovered, Hatay has achieved the status of hosting the third largest mosaic museum in the world and the largest in Turkey. However, it has also gained the status of a city where significant historical firsts occurred, not only through what lies beneath the soil but also through the historical structures on its surface. With this characteristic, Hatay is not only a significant historical city for the Turkish world or Muslims but also for Christians. The focus of study is to analyze how Hatay is addressed in academic articles prepared in Turkey within the Department of History, including how it is approached, the periods and topics most and least covered, and the distribution of these articles across various sub-disciplines within History. For this reason, the study utilized the website Dergipark.com, supported by TÜBİTAK, as the primary data collection source. Such statistical analyses aim to map out the field of study and provide guidance for future research.
