The Science of Qiraat and Its Formation Process

Abstract

ABSTRACT In the article, the introduction and description of the science of recitation, which deals with the different ways of reading the Qur'an, is explained, and the secondary subjects of this science are explained. It has been tried to explain that this knowledge is necessary in order to be able to read and understand the Qur'an in the best and most accurate way. The relationship with other Islamic sciences was also mentioned. The importance of the science of recitation was made especially for the sciences of tafsir and fiqh. Then, the approach of the Ahl as-Sunnah to the science of recitation, the criticisms of Shia and orientalists were mentioned. Finally, the basis of the science of recitation, its emergence and the process of taking place in the lives of Muslims as a branch of science were explained. In this process, the studies in which the science of recitation gained an official identity with the event of cem' and istinsah were mentioned.
