Evaluation of Preferences and Criticisms in Recitations in terms of Authenticity of Leases

Abstract

The Qur'an is the main source of the religion of Islam. That's why Muslims believe in the Qur'an. They made great efforts to be read and understood as the Prophet conveyed and taught. As can be seen in the narrations about the seven letters, during the Prophet's time, the Companions accused each other of reciting each other in a way other than what the Prophet taught, due to different recitations. When such events were reported to the Prophet, he said that "the Qur'an was revealed in seven letters, and that they should read whatever is easy from it". Reading the easiest one among the options also requires making a choice. Thus, different recitations continued to exist. Over time, some recitations that did not have a sound attribution and did not comply with the rules of Arabic grammar were mixed among these recitations. Scholars specialized in the business of recitation tried to find a solution to this situation, they determined the correct ones and eliminated the ones that were not. As a result, the majority of the Islamic Ummah agreed on the authenticity and reliability of the seven recitations determined by the recitation scholars and the ten recitations added to them later. But they did this in terms of the integrity of the recitation. While evaluating these recitations one by one, they preferred one of them over the others. Again, some of these generally accepted recitations were evaluated and criticized one by one. These preferences and criticisms were mostly made by commentators and linguists who are experts in Arabic. The preference and criticism in the recitations is an important factor in evaluating the authenticity of the recitations.
